Emory Johns Creek Hospital offers a wide variety of classes to accommodate your lifestyle. Classes include childbirth education and infant CPR. Class sizes are limited to ensure personal attention. Our long term inpatient ante-natal patients can have classes tailored to their needs, as well. Many insurance companies now offer reimbursement for childbirth education. Childbirth Preparation Classes

We offer a four week course or an all-in-one weekend course. The classes consist of lecture, discussion and sharing time, and active class participation, and covers breathing, relaxation and comfort measures for labor. Topics include:

Discomforts of late pregnancy
Anatomy and physiology
Stages of labor
Pain management - breathing and relaxation
How to prepare for labor
Medications
Possible complications
Cesarean sections
Post partum and newborn care
Infant feeding, basic breastfeeding
